Pre-departure information

Passport / ID
Please double check your passport follows along with the country's requirements guidelines. We highly suggest emailing yourself a photo of your passport - just in case it's lost! If you’re just traveling domestic, don’t forget a valid form of ID.

Cell Phone Coverage
Check with your carrier in regards to cell phone coverage in-destination and update your coverage if desired. There will be wifi in hotels so you can use FaceTime, Skype, WhatsApp and iMessaging as usual.

Stay Healthy
Be sure to hydrate before you leave! And don't forget to take immune boosters, such as Emergen-C and Airborne.

Currency + Voltage (Europe)

American appliances run on 110 volts, while European appliances are 220 volts. If you see a range of voltages printed on the item or its plug (such as "110–220"), you're OK in Europe. Some older appliances have a voltage switch marked 110 (US) and 220 (Europe) — switch it to 220 as you pack.

This is my favorite traveling power strip - most European hotel rooms have very few outlets so this is ideal if you need to charge multiple things. This one is great for couples and families that need several plug-ins.

This is an adapter that you can use in both the EU and the UK. This one is really the best because it is an apple product.

Airline Check-in

Check-in
Check-in for your flight begins 24 hours prior. You can check-in via your airline’s website or app. Please see instructions below:

➝ Please have your confirmation number handy when checking in!
➝ Web Check-In: Go to the website and click "Check-In". Enter your name and your confirmation number.
➝ App Check-In: Download your airline’s app. After download, check in as a guest, log in or register for an account. From there, add your name and your confirmation number to access your trips and mobile check-in.
➝ Reference the airline’s baggage fee page to ensure you're aware of the most accurate information on luggage allowances and fees.

For Domestic Flights
You will need a valid form of ID when flying. Your drivers license or passport will work!

For International Flights
Make sure to have your passports handy! You will not be able to print an actual boarding pass, as international flights require the ticket agents to physically see your passports at the airport.

**We have no control over our dear friends, the airlines, so luggage fees & seat assignments are subject to change without us knowing**

What to do when

The airline has changed your seats...

  • If you have checked your seat assignment online during check-in, but it has changed upon arrival at the airport, don't worry. Speak to a gate agent for assistance (not the ticketing desk). Gate agents are typically the most helpful in such cases and can assist in moving people or requesting that they change seats.

Your luggage is delayed or lost...

  • Locate the airline baggage desk, which is typically in the baggage claim area. Do not leave without filing a claim. If you can't find your airline's desk, contact them immediately to initiate the claim process. Remember, this is a crucial step that should not be overlooked.

  • Save any receipts for items purchased.

  • File a claim with your travel insurance upon return (I'll assist if you purchased it through your package).

Your flight is delayed...

  • If the delay is less than 30 minutes and does not affect your connecting flight, there's no need to worry.

  • However, if the delay exceeds 30 minutes and/or impacts your connecting flight, go straight to the desk to arrange for the next available flight. While you're waiting, send me a text message so I can start searching for alternative flights as well. It's like a fun contest of "who can in contact with the airline first"! (I’ll also inform with your transportation company, but know they are also monitoring your flight for this information.)

  • In case of a delay or cancellation that is within the airline's control, we recommend checking the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Airline Customer Service Dashboard. This dashboard outlines the services that each U.S. airline will provide to minimize passenger inconvenience. To view the dashboard, click on this LINK.

The airline has changed your seats...

  • Please head to the ticket counter and also send me a text - we're going to play the game of "who can in contact with the airline first" again ;) Based on the circumstances and our options, I'll help direct what's next.

Your scheduled transportation (or tour guide) doesn't show...

  • Please give it at least 5 full minutes, in case someone is just parking or in the restroom.

  • Call the number provided in your travel documents before you reach out to me. The first thing they will ask me is for your number so they can try and find you!

  • Worst case scenario, you take a cab (or Uber) and let me know so I can reimburse you!

Your room isn't satisfactory...

  • Ask to speak to a manager (call from your room or go down to the front desk), if they cannot find another room for you, please get me involved. Be specific about the issues and be honest about what you want them to do, to remedy the situation - as I will ask you those questions exactly so I can ensure we get the appropriate solution ASAP!

I'm not available...

  • I have provided emergency phone numbers for my vendors and partners. This ensures that if something goes wrong, help is just a phone call away. Of course, the goal is to not have to use them, but it's always better to be prepared.

Remember to utilize your hotel concierge and the in-destination contacts we've provided as they are available on-site and on the ground, which will provide you with the best assistance.

Tipping & Money

Money
Remember to inform your bank & credit card company that you are traveling.
➝ It’s best to travel with a Visa or Mastercard as they are the most widely accepted around the world.
➝ Use a credit card that won't charge you a foreign transaction fee.
➝ We suggest exchanging $500 USD at the airport & use ATMs for better exchange rates.
➝ If you plan to use your debit card at ATMs, know your daily withdrawal limit and choose the local currency when using a debit card at ATMs.

Tipping

Tipping customs vary greatly from one country to another. In some places, tipping is not expected at all, while in others it is considered an essential part of the service industry.

It is important to research tipping customs before traveling to a foreign country to avoid any misunderstandings or unintentional offense. When in doubt, it is always best to ask your advisor for guidance on specific tipping etiquette.

Remember, tipping is a way to show appreciation for good service, but it should never be mandatory or expected
